Colorful Canyons

Indianapolis Children's Museum Lesson Plan

I developed a geology lesson grounded in Universal Design for Learning, centering tactile and multisensory approaches that support engagement and accessibility for visitors across a range of visual and sensory abilities.

Colorful Canyons is about how modern rock formations can serve as a historical record of the environment. With 3D printed canyon cross sections of the grand canyon, students are invited to feel how the layers stack. Families can go home with a vile of colorful sand art that corresponds to the stamps they place on the back of their bookmark.
